Things I've Learned in 2008.
At least as they pertain to fitness/triathlons/racing/etc.
1. There is nothing better in the world than crossing the finish line.
2. When you get sick, please, take a week off straightaway to heal, lest you have to cancel your A-race of the spring.
3. Weight-lifting will spare you many injuries down the road and also make you look so sleek.
4. Marathons may not get any easier the more you do them, but at least you know what to expect, and that's more than half the battle.
5. Sometimes, the day just doesn't go your way. Sometimes, you find yourself being hauled off a half-marathon course at Mile 8 because you can no longer stand up straight on account of heat exhaustion. These things happen. Deal with 'em.
6. Good nutrition on the race course (and off it, too) makes all the difference.
7. Races are much more fun when you run them with your best friend.
Here's hoping you have a delightful 2009!
:)
